It was Benjamin Franklin who said “Early to bed, and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.†With all of advances we’ve reached as humans, are we still invoking what Mr. Franklin has said? Well, up to this day, many still consider waking early as a requirement for successful people. The surprising thing to note is, even self professed night owls push themselves to wake up early because they really believe in the power of the early day sun.
Morning larks, night owls, and short sleepers are the 3 categories that we all fall into. Night owls are said to be more intuitive and creative, while morning larks tend to be more analytical. Short sleepers are very lucky because they can go on with their day with just a few hours of sleep. Now whatever category you fall into, you may want to start waking up earlier as high achievers tend to do so. Have you ever wondered what they do? Well wonder no more. Here are the morning routines of successful people.
The One Thing They Do
Before we dive in to what they actually do, one thing’s for sure. Most of the activities that they do are centered to their selves. No kids, no business, no husband or wife. It’s pure alone time. Due to the busy nature of our schedules, we often disregard the need for the time we spend to ourselves. By waking up earlier, we can devote 30 minutes to 1 hour of everyday doing whatever you like.
Exercise
There is no better way of starting the day with exercise. Exercise gives you an energy boost, clears your mind, and reduces stress. And due to the fact that you’ve expended energy first thing in the morning, it will increase your chances of having a deeper and longer sleep. Just don’t forget to guzzle a glass of orange juice before you jog.
Prepare and Eat Breakfast
One of the best things to do before rushing out the door is accomplishing a relaxing routine task. And if you like cooking or just keeping your hands busy, why not cook breakfast for yourself and your family. Spend the time to talk to your kids while getting the required nutrients to start your day right.
Plan Your Work For the Day
I can’t vouch for everyone, but I really enjoy listing all the things I need to do for the whole day. It organizes my work and provides a structure for me to follow. Successful people do it too. Aside from being extra organized, it also becomes a form of relaxation and a reminder that hard work can be done one task at a time.
These are just some of the things that successful people do. If you still don’t know how to start your day then I highly suggest that you should discover a habit of your own. Something personal that relaxes you and prevents you from just rushing out the door every morning.
